About Robert Stumper, Founder & CEO

Robert Stumper is the Founder and CEO of Benefit Technology Group (BTG).

With over 35 years of experience in insurance, risk management, and entrepreneurship, Robert is dedicated to transforming the way Employee Benefits and Corporate Insurance consulting is done. He founded BTG with the goal of creating a client-centric firm that stands in stark contrast to traditional insurance intermediaries. Robert believes that the current broker/consultant/agency model is outdated and in need of significant reform.

His expertise spans a wide range of areas, including:

  • Plan Audits & Risk Assessments
  • Strategic Plan Development & Negotiation
  • Pricing Analysis & Forecasting
  • Alternative Funding & Cost Control
  • Healthcare Reform


Robert works closely with clients to develop tailored, strategic solutions, managing Request for Proposals (RFPs) that align with each client’s unique objectives. He also maintains an ongoing role as a relationship manager, ensuring that client needs are consistently met and exceeded.

Before founding BTG, Robert held senior leadership roles at several leading firms, including:

  • Director, Human Capital & Benefits, Willis Towers Watson
  • Principal, Symphony Risk Solutions
  • Senior Managing Director, Corporate Synergies Group


Earlier in his career, Robert also held key positions in business development, client management, and underwriting at several insurance companies.

Education & Credentials

Robert graduated from Long Island University, CW Post College with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a minor in Finance. He is licensed as a Life, Accident, and Health Agent and holds the Certified Health Consultant designation from Purdue University.

Personal Interests

In his spare time, Robert is an avid runner, having completed numerous marathons, half-marathons, and road races. He is also deeply involved in his community, serving as a volunteer with Big Brothers Big Sisters for over 20 years, running for charity organizations like Ainsley’s Angels, and participating in the L.O.U.D. and Run Tampa running communities.

Robert’s most passionate commitment is to Southeastern Guide Dogs, where he serves as a Puppy Raiser. He is also a proud father of four daughters and the owner of two Labrador retrievers, Zimmer and Boobie.
